Do you have a Scout in your Troop or Crew who you feel is an exemplary Scout and is looking for a challenging and fun filled way to use his summer months while earning money toward college? Have you encountered a staff member at Scout Camp who you feel went beyond your expectations and you would somehow like to recognize his service to you or your Troop? Do you want to encourage the link between education and Scouting and are looking for a way to do this?

Each year, the Greater St. Louis Area Council employs approximately 150 high-school and college students to work on our summer camp staff. These young men and women are our best Scouts. They are primarily Eagle Scouts with strong reputations of good character, leadership ability, and personal responsibility. A scholarship fund program was started to recruit and retain summer-camp staff members of the highest caliber. The scholarships are available for camp staff members who have completed their high-school education and are enrolled as Scouts who work one summer, increasing to $1,250 for those who have worked five summers or more. Your contribution helps camp staff members further their education while they continue serving Scouting.

A contribution to this program can be made in any amount and can be made in honor of someone’s service if you desire. If you make the contribution in honor of someone’s service, they will receive a nice recognition from Council acknowledging that someone has made a
contribution in their honor and thanking the m for their outstanding service. These letters mean much to these young men and women who serve on camp staff. Please make sure that any Scout who is considering working at camp is aware of this extra financial benefit to
them.
